In a Winter Light

Christmas came early for us this year in the form of Alexander Armstrong’s new Christmas album, A Winter Tale. As we’ve known him since our University days, it was a real treat to work with him on the album even if it did mean recording Christmas carols in June!

What was lovely was revisting with Xander some of the many carols we performed together as choral scholars in the days when James would have been the organ scholar and I would have been an alto in the choir. Xander recorded a few of the songs with The Choir of New College, Oxford, where one of his sons is a chorister and we recorded The Squadronaires for the second time this year on Winter Wonderland and Silent Night. Earlier we worked with the band on the Vera Lynn 100 CD, incidentally this is also being rereleased for Christmas with some additions.
